Thank you for visiting this web site! I can't begin to tell you how it feels to have a book out there in the world with my name on it! I never actually intended to write a book of short stories. The second story in My Last Romance and other passions is titled "Asa" and is the first story I ever published. In 2004 my friend Skye Alexander, one of the partners in Level Best Books, invited me to submit a story for their annual anthology. I wrote "Asa" and they published it! Amazing. Since then I've been increasingly intrigued by writing short stories. The result is this little book.

As I worked on the book, I asked friends to read stories and give me feedback. Since it has been published a few people have read it and called or emailed with questions. So I decided to write this page and address some of the questions I've received. Please feel free to email me at Kathleen at Parlez-Moi Press with any questions, comments or feedback. I'll do my best to respond here. Thanks for visiting.

Questions & Answers
Q. What town is My Last Romance located in? You mention The Balinese Room and Avenue L which are familiar names and I wondered where you meant it to be.
A. I actually didn't intend the town to be anywhere specifically but, in my mind I was thinking of Galveston, Texas as I wrote. So, yes, I guess you could say it is in Galveston.

Q. I was shocked at the end of "Asa". Is it based on a true story?
A. Not that I know of. When I wrote it, I was trying to create something to be included in a crime anthology. I never thought it would also fit a book about romance!

Q. Are any of these stories true? You describe things so vividly I felt like you had lived them.
A. All of them are straight out of my imagination however most of them are set in places I have been and love -- Galveston, New Bedford, Nantucket,
Wellfleet, etc. are all places I have vivid memories of.

Q. I found "The Haven" really disturbing. I thought that the ending was very unrealistic.
A. I fully expected people would have trouble with that story but I enjoyed writing an ending to a situation that was different from what people would normally expect. And I don't think it is all that impossible.

Q. Some of your stories are pretty steamy. I don't think I'd be comfortable letting people know I think about things that way.
A. I think we all think that way but you have a good point. It's a little intimidating to show that side of myself. I'll let you know what happens!
