Winter Solstice Sunset
What a gorgeous sunset! I think the blog today is just going to be a tribute to the longest night of the year, last night, and the glorious sunset that it began with. All of these images can be enlarged by clicking on them. The first image was taken from my favorite place, the fish pier, that's Gloucester's working waterfront across the water.
Below is the Man at the Wheel taken from Stacy Boulevard.
I took this at Niles Beach and that bright spot in the sky is Venus. The bright spot on the horizon is Logan airport in Boston.
This is just a little farther down Niles Beach, the trees there are so wonderful in winter. Venus is visible through the tree branches.
What a glorious night. Thanks for reading.

Just gorgeous. You've made me more aware of the day's importance (a considerable feat since I'm mired in Christmas prep and verging on hysteria here!)
Maybe I've had too much eggnog and not enough sleep, but could you explain to me how it is that your blog post reads "Thursday, 12:29 AM" and it's 11:15PM on Wednesday in MD? Am I even more behind (or dumber) than I thought? :0
Hehe... that's my fault. In order to keep my index organized I try not to post more than once a day so sometimes when I am posting tomorrow's blog early I post-date it until after midnight so it will show up with the next day's date. I know it's confusing but it is less confusing than having to reorganize my file index (which is organizewd by date.)
It's funny how different the pictures look on different monitors. Last night when I posted them they looked good but on my LCD monitor they look awfully bright.... or maybe I haven't had enough eggnog!!!
I'm so relieved. I thought I'd lost a whole day (you laugh, but you know it's possible this time of year).
The pics look good on my monitor. A bit oversaturated maybe, but since I'm not there to see what you see, I just assume you live in a more colorful part of the country. :)
LCD monitors are notorious for inaccurate colors. They make web designers and graphic artists crazy (har! like I'm telling YOU something new!) Anyways, I like your psychedelic pics.
I think they look great!
Love,
Suz
